Karachi: 8 Killings, 24 Vehicles Torched, City Again Under Violence

Karachi is under severe tension again after the statements of Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza, Sr. Minister, Sindh, against MQM and its chief Altaf Hussain. Whole city is under tensed situation immediately after the statement against MQM chief.

In violent incidents 8 people have been killed since last night whereas 24 vehicles including trucks, buses, coaches and trailers have been set to fire. Late night on Wednesday, the night between July 13 and July 14, 2011 city became under tension and unknown men shut the hotels, and any commercial points like restaurants, tea spots, cold spots, pan shops etc. almost in whole Karachi and Hyderabad. People burnt tyres and blocked the streets in some areas of Karachi and then the protest series spread to many cities including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Tando Adam, Mirpurkhas.

Today on July 14, the protests are stages by MQM in all Pakistan against the disputed statement of Zulfiqar Mirza last day. In Karachi, at Daak Khaana Liaqatabad Town, MQM workers and activists have gathered to protest against the statements against its chief.

Series of Blasts at PNS Mehran at Shara e Faisal Karachi

Series of bomb blasts took place at PNS Mehran at Shara-e-Faisal, Karachi. Initially, people heard one explosion and afterward repeatedly many blasts were heard. Along the blasts, exchange of fires was also ongoing and by the latest news it was continued. Around 5 blasts were heard and smoke clouds and huge flames are visible on the blast site.

Rehman Malik told the media that terrorists are still inside PNS Mehran and a Commando Operation has been started to fight the terrorists. Also rescue teams had rushed to the blasts site at PNS Mehran. Emergency declared in all Karachi hospitals. Death toll not reported yet.

Police and Rangers have surrounded the affected area and para-military force has been called to take action. Worst traffic jam on Shara e Faisal after the happening.

Karachi: MQM Joint Unit Incharge Killed

In Karachi, MQM Joint Unit Incharge, Iftikhar Hussain was shot down by unknown gunmen. The incident took place near Model Park, in Nazimabad, Karachi. Iftikhar Hussain was 38 years old. After this mishap, tension arose in the area.

Imran Khan Continues Sit-In at Naiti Jaiti, Karachi

Imran Khan, chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf, continues sit-in against Drone Attacks. The sit-in was conducted by Imran Khan at Naiti Jaiti bridge near Karachi port. City Government Authorities have blocked the road and planned an alternative plan for the flow of traffic.

Several religious parties including Sunni Tehreek and Jamat Wahdat ul Muslimeen, have announced to support the sit-in of Imran Khan. These parties have also attended and participated in the ongoing sit-in against drone attacks. Moreover, a massive number of public was there to attend the sit-in from Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf. Many convoys are getting at the sit-in from different cities of Pakistan.

This sitting-in protest has been continued since May 21, 2011 evening and it will end tonight. At the end, Imran Khan will address the public and announce the future strategy for his campaign against drone attacks in Pakistan. It may be recalled, that before this protest, Imran Khan has also staged a sitting-in protest in Peshawar against the drone attacks.

Four Killed in Karachi Today

Another firing incident has taken place at Pak Colony (Purana Golimar), Karachi today on May 4, 2011, which claimed 3 lives yet. The incident was a clash between two rival groups in which all used guns and pistols openly which resulted in killing of 3 people.

Farooq Baig, Member of Organizational Committee of MQM Murdered

Another, very important worker and member of MQM Organizational Committee, Farooq Baig has been murdered at Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi. He was gunned down when he was going from Landhi, his home, towards MQM Centre 90.

In the wake of this incident, many areas of the city are in tensed situation and several vehicles have been torched in several areas. Worst traffic jams are being witnessed in many areas of Karachi city. Traffic jams have been taken place in M A Jinnah Road, I I Chundriger Road etc.

According to the reports, there were 3 people gunned down in the Shah Faisal Colony incident, in which one the target of shooters was Farooq Baig of MQM.

Several other firing incidents have been witnessed in several areas in which Gulistan-e-Jauhar is most affected. Closure of commercial centres, business plazas and shops has been started. Same tensed situation can bee seen in other areas of Karachi.

Karachi: Violence Still Uncontrolled, Death Toll Reached 18

In Karachi, violence is still uncontrolled as 16 people lost their lives in fresh incidents of firing in several areas. These 16 people including one policemen have been targeted to kill in last 24 hours on 23 and 24 March, 2011.  The policemen was identified as Arshad Kundi, Head Constable, was killed in Sohrab Goth. Other people were killed in several other areas in which Teen Hatti, Maripur, Moosa Lane and some other areas. A bus was torched in Golimar Area after killing of political worker in that area.

An office of a political party was also attacked by grenades, hence no human lives lost in that because office was not open at that time. After this critical situation of the city, people of Karachi are fearful due to the continuous firing and target killing incidents in the city.

In the deceased, there are several activists and supporters of MQM. Farooq Sattar has called a press conference today, requesting President Asif Ali Zardari to take necessary actions against the killers who are involved in target killing of MQM Activists and Supporters. He also said that these terrorists are challenging the writ of President Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi.

Rehman Malik has ordered the Rangers to fully control the Karachi city to cope up the ongoing situation and to maintain the peace in the city.

Libya Under Attack - Allied Forces Launched Strikes

Libya is now under attack by allied forces. French jets launched air strikes on Gaddafi forces in Libya and destroyed several army vehicles and tanks. After the strikes Maummar Gaddafi said that arms will be distributed in a million of people to resist to the attackers. As a result of these attacks, 48 people have been killed while 150 have been injured. Arab League is protesting against the killing of citizens, in air strikes of the alliance. President Barrack Obama has said that these strikes are launched for the safety of Libyan People from Gaddafi Forces.

Karachi Violence Continues - 18 Died in 36 Hours

Karachi is once again has been victim of target killing and violence. In 36 hours, 18 people died in several incidents happened in different areas of Karachi. Yesterday the major incident of target killing had taken place in Kharadar where 3 vehicles were torched after murder of a political worker. After that incident, violence broke out in many areas of the city which caused many killings in Karachi.

Still many areas are sensitive and target killing is continued with the wastage of many glorious human lives. In the city, today morning another bus was set ablaze by the provoked group of people in consequence of killing of a worker belonged to a political party. Moreover, in the city, rumors are being spread that pillion riding in Karachi is being banned.

Kamran Akmal Dropping Catches



The fans of Cricket from Pakistan are irresistibly unhappy from Kamran Akmal after losing the match from Newzealand in ICC World Cup 2011. The hero of that match was Rose Taylor who scored a century for Newzealand and played the key role for victory of his team. Match would have gone in the favor of Pakistan if Kamran Akmal did not miss the glorious chances to send Taylor back to the pavilion.

Pakistan Beat Srilanka in ICC World Cup by 11 Runs

Pakistan beat Srilanka by 11 runs in ICC World Cup Group A Match in Colombo. Pakistan bat first and scored  277 for 7 wickets down in 50 overs. From Pakistan side Misbah ul Haq, Kamran Akmal and Younus Khan played a responsible inning. In the start Pakistan Team was moving ahead with a slow run rate but Misbah and Younus developed a successful partnership and gradually took Pakistan Score above 250 and further Afridi and Abdul Razzaq played their role. Finally, the Pak inning ended up at 277 in 50 overs.

As the Srilankan Batsmen descended in the ground, it seemed that they are resisting hard and 278 is not a hard target. But after the spell of attackers, Shahid Afridi and Muhammad Hafeez taken the responsibility to bowl and started getting important breakthroughs.

Eventually, Pakistan succeeded to take over and in the final over when Srilanka needed 18 runs Umer Gul was given the ball. He bowled responsibly and Srilankans could take their team to 266 and on last ball of 50th over Pakistan won this match.

Shahid Afridi was declared Man of the Match for his excellent bowling; he got 4 wickets in this match. He has also completed his 300 wickets in this match. It may be recalled that Afridi had got 5 wickets in the last match which was played against Kenya.

Srilanka beat Canada by 210 runs

In the third match of ICC World Cup 2011, which was being played between Canada and Srilanka, Srilanka has beaten Canada by 210 runs. Canada had to chase a huge target of 333 runs against Srilanka whereas Canadian Team crumbled at 122 in 36.5 overs.

The match was held in Mahinda Raja Pixay Cricket Stadium where Srilanka played first and made 332 runs. Canada started batting to hit 333 runs but only 3 batsmen could score in double figure. Ashish Bagai scored 22, Rizwan Cheema scored 37 and Bedevan scored 16 runs. Rest of the team could not make double figure score. After this victory Srilanka has strengthened its position in the World Cup.

Pillion Riding Ban Not To Be Extended

Ban of pillion riding in Karachi has not to be extended as a decision of Sindh Govt. was made today. After increasing incidents of target killings of various political workers and activists, Sindh Govt. had imposed ban on pillion riding in Karachi till January 29, 2011.

Regarding its extension there was a confusion but now it is clearly announced that pillion riding ban is not being extended and the public of Karachi can ride double on a bike after 12:00 am tonight (29 January, 2011).

Lahore Blast at Urdu Bazar -13 Died

Huge blast at Chehlum Procession at Urdu Bazar, Lahore. Death toll rise to 13 while 84 injured including women and children. 4 policemen in the martyrs.

CCPO Lahore Aslam Tareen says that police saved the procession from large destruction. Policemen stopped the suicider out of security circle that saved the procession from massive damage.

Law Minister Punjab Rana Sanaullah says that the assailant was stopped at the first check post and the tribute goes to security agencies.

Allama Sajid Naqvi and several other leaders condemn the suicide attack.

Culprits of Assault on Bashir Jan Arrested

Two culprits who attacked deadly on ANP Leader Mr. Bashir Jan, have been arrested from a private hospital in Gulshan e Iqbal. Two other culprits have been arrested from Orangi Town. A search operation was made by Rangers and Police and 22 suspects have been arrested from Orangi Town.

Karachi Unrest Continues. 24 Died in Two Days

Karachi unrest continues on Friday January 14, 2011. A series of killings which was started on Thursday continued next day with 12 killings on Friday. In several areas of Karachi firing incidents and target killing started  from Thursday including killing of News Reporter of Private TV Channel Wali Khan Babar. Later the series of killings extended and in many areas of Karachi, firing and killing of people started. Most affected areas were Orangi Town, Banaras, Liaqatabad and Kati Pahari near North Nazimabad.

Death toll in these two days has risen to 24. Orangi Town remained the most dangerous area in these days where 9 people were killed including a 7 year girl.

In Gulistan -e- Jauhar, Major Retd. Iqbal Kashmiri has been shot down. He was pilot of helicopter of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah. This incident took place in front of Rabia City in Gulistan e Jauhar.

Another incident was occurred in North Nazimabad where a man named Naveed was killed at a barber shop. He is told a worker of a political party. Other incidents were happened in Banaras, Ajmer Nagri, Malir and Korangi. Law Enforcement Agencies seem totally failed to stop the terrorist activities going in Karachi.

Wali Khan Babar Martyr of Journalism 2011 Laid to Soil in Zohb

Wali Khan Babar, the martyred reporter of Geo News, has been buried in his ancestral village named Gardi Babar which is near Zohb. His body was moved from Karachi to Zohb through Quetta and then taken to his village Gardi Babar. As his dead body arrived Quetta, civil society and large number of journalists held a protest and block Chaman Quetta Highway.

On January 14, 2011, journalists unions and organizations held protests after killing of Wali Khan Babar. In many cities of Pakistan journalists of electronic and print media protested against the targeted murder of Wali Babar and asked arrest and punishment of killers of Wali Khan Babar.



ANP has announced 3 days mourning for the killing of Wali Khan Babar in Sindh. ANP President Sindh Shahi Syed has announced that ANP Sindh Offices will remain closed due to the murder of Wali Khan Babar in Karachi. He conducted a press conference regarding this announcement on Friday January 14, 2011. He also demanded the government to make the Karachi city weaponless without any bias.

It may be recalled that Wali Khan Babar was killed on late night on Thursday January 13, 2011 when he was on the way back to home from his office. He was shot down by unknown gunmen in Liaqatabad, Karachi.

Iran Plane Crash, 50 Survivors 55 Died

Latest plane crash took place in Iran where a passenger plane crashed. The crash of plane was happened in North East of Iran in the city of Orumiah. In the plane 105 passengers were aboard. Out of 95 passengers, 50 passengers have been rescued out from the wreckage; though they have got light wounds. The crash took place due to bad weather.

Iran's Fars News Agency reported that 50 out of 95 passengers have been saved. Still there is no confirmed information of the people died in the incident. Due to heavy snow across the crash site, rescuers were seeing complications. Plane was broken into many pieces.

According to Iranian Media, plane Boeing 727, was about to land that in the meanwhile this incident had taken place. Still efforts are ongoing to take out maximum number of people alive.

Karachi Situation Critical After Murder of Yawar Abbas

Karachi remained very critical today after target killing of MQM worker Yawar Abbas, in PIB Colony. Unknown motorcyclists opened fire at Yawar Abbas in afternoon today on January 08, 2011.
After his murder tension arose in many areas. Buses, motorcycles and a few other vehicles were set ablaze in different areas of Karachi by angry mob. In PIB Colony, during protest fuel tank of a burnt mini bus was exploded. 20 people injured due to fuel tank explosion. In other incidents, a man named Naeem was shot out in Hyderi, North Nazimabad. Several other incidents took place in different areas of Karachi in which Sachal, Quaid e Azam Colony, and SITE area are included. In SITE a policemen was killed by gun shots. Still several areas are in unrest.

Yawar Abbas was a senior worker of MQM and said to be former Unit Incharge of PIB Colony. His funeral prayer has been offered.

MQM Decides to Sit on Opposition Benches

MQM eventually has decided to sit on opposition benches. Decision was taken in simultaneously held meeting of MQM Coordination Committee in London and Karachi. MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has verified this decision. MQM leaders has announced that we cannot support wrong decisions of the government so we have decided to oppose the government and from tomorrow MQM will sit on opposition benches in National Assembly and Senate.

In the meeting of MQM Coordination Committee, it was seriously considered that the huge hike in the petrol price should be opposed and MQM does not agree on this issue with the government. Although, there were many other issues on which MQM has opposed government policies but the main cause is the recent hike of prices in the petroleum products.

Later this announcement, prime minister Mr. Yousuf Raza Gilani talked to media and said that government will have no effect after the separation of allies. Moulana Fazl ur Rehman separated from the government earlier and now MQM has declared to sit on opposition benches; Gilani said that government is still stable and neither of any effort will succeed to fail the government.

Now, Pakistan Political situation has become very vague and no one knows what is the political setup of Pakistan in the coming days.
